Dawn Bushnaq, AIA, Principal

Dawn is an architect and educator. As founder and Principal at Bushnaq Studio, Dawn brings leadership, design vision and imagination to all of the firm’s work. She specializes in collaborative work with clients and projects that thoughtfully engage site, program, and patterns of use over time.

Dawn is a part-time lecturer at University of Washington’s College of Built Environments and frequently serves as a juror for design studios and awards programs. She also serves on the Board of The Learning Tree Montessori Preschool and as Co-chair for the After School Enrichment Program at Hawthorne Elementary School.

Dawn holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies from Yale University. Dawn is a longtime soccer player and fan.

Peter Law, Principal

Peter Law, Principal

An inveterate maker, Peter brings keen design sensibilities and broad technical knowledge to all of the firm’s work. With a strong understanding of materials and detailing, along with 18+ years construction administration experience, Peter ensures each of the firm’s projects evolves from concept to completion with discipline and rigor.

Outside the studio, Peter hones his tactile and technical skills through many other forms of making including cooking, wine-making and DIY bike tinkering.

Peter holds a Master of Architecture from Virginia Tech and a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a focus on ceramics from the University of Minnesota.

Peter joined Bushnaq Studio in 2012.

Szelyn Lim, Architect

Szelyn Lim, Architect

Szelyn approaches each project with artistry, technical savvy, and sensitivity. She has a background in architecture and engineering, and a passion for sustainability. Szelyn has worked for firms in Seattle, San Diego, China and India and brings a rigorous, multidisciplinary approach to Bushnaq Studio’s practice.

Outside of the studio, Szelyn is an accomplished potter. She also volunteers for multiple organizations including as Co-chair for the After School Enrichment Program at Hawthorne Elementary School.

Szelyn holds a Masters of Architecture, Bachelor of Arts in Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas Tech.

Szelyn joined Bushnaq Studio in 2013.
